Healthcare Reform - The Cooperative Solution

on 10:51 AM

In today's economy, credit union cooperatives have drawn growing attention as a solution to family financial needs. But did you know efforts are under way in Congress to use cooperatives to address health care reform as well?

With Congress working toward passage of a Health Care Reform Bill, one proposed solution by congress involves the creation of Health Care Cooperatives. Many are asking a lot of questions about the cooperative business model and how it could be the solution to U.S. health care needs.

The Nat'l. Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) is holding a free 1 hour webinar: Health Care Reform & Cooperative - Understanding the Big Picture. It will provide an overview of what the proposed health care cooperatives would look like to address the issues and challenges of creating a national health care cooperative system. Speakers will be:

  • Paul Hazen, President and CEO of NCBA
  • Donna Zimmerman, VP Gov't & Community Relations of HealthPartners - a health care cooperative
  • Bill Oemichen, President and CEO of the Cooperative Network - an association for cooperatives of all types, including credit unions, in Minnesota and Wisconsin

The webinar takes place on Thursday, August 6th at 2 PM ET. It is free of charge to everyone. The audio and all presentations will be archived on the NCBA website following the event. Register for this highly informative session by clicking here.
