NCBA Addresses Nat'l. Health Cooperatives in Webinar Posted by AVCU on 3:57 PM

To clarify confusion and misunderstandings circulated in the media, government and public as cooperatives re-entered the healthcare debate, the Nat’l. Coop Business Association (NCBA) hosted a national webinar focused on healthcare cooperatives in the U.S. economy. The webinar drew people from varied areas, including congressional staff of member of Congress. They listened to presentations from NCBA’s President/CEO, Paul Hazen; Donna Zimmerman, VP of Gov’t. & Community Relations for HealthPartners, a consumer-owned healthcare cooperative; and Bill Oemichen, President/CEO of the Midwestern association Cooperative Network and who was involved in the creation of Farmers Health Cooperative, a purchasing cooperative for health insurance. During the webinar, speakers answered questions about the nature of healthcare cooperatives and the effects that cooperatives would have on other insurance companies.
