The Filene Research Institute recently made its newest online-only publication available. The timing is right as emotional and social factors continue to weigh on the economic decisions consumers are making. “Committed to Savings: Using Behavioral Economics to Motivate Members” explores the relationship between human behavior and economic studies. A Filene i3 Team of credit union professionals came up with an idea in 2008 for an electronic motivational platform called Online Goal Setting, the roots of which were planted in the notion of behavioral economics and providing consumers the tools they need to keep their focus on personal, financial and other aspirations. The team had assistance from stickK.com, an organization fostering the idea of “commitment contracts” to allow users to hold themselves responsible for changes and goals. The study’s researcher was a developer of stickK.com. The report is currently available online through the Filene Research Institute at http://filene.org/. Members are able to log-in to read the report; non-members may register an account with Filene to view the report.
