Your Association has joined all the other state credit union leagues in a nationwide effort to generate 250,000 interchange postcard messages to members of the U.S. Senate by the end of this month. This campaign features the credit union little guy emblazoned on each postcard. We’ve sent a supply of post card to every Vermont credit union asking that employees and volunteers take a moment to fill out two postcards – one for each Vermont Senator. All completed postcards returned to the Association office by the end of October will be delivered to Senators Leahy and Sanders.
CUNA and the state leagues oppose merchants’ proposals that would affect interchange fees. Interchange reflects a merchant's fair share of the costs of the convenient card system and supports everything from re-issuing cards compromised by merchant data breaches to providing a call center to contact if a card is lost or stolen.
Besides completing a postcard, if you haven’t done already visit our Grassroots Action Center to send a quick email, opposing interchange controls, to all legislators related to your zip code.
