Earlier this week, CUNA released the final product of its working group on credit union examination issues.
Credit unions around the country continue to raise concerns about examination practices. Since May, 2010 CUNA's working group has focused on these concerns and what could be done to help credit unions. It has complied information on credit unions’ examination concerns and developed resources to assist credit unions when supervisory problems arise. The working group produced 3 documents:
- Supervisory Issues and Examinations: Guidance for Credit unions During the Current Economic Times and Beyond - is a 64-page guidance on the duties of examiners and the role of credit unions in the exam process. Among other things, it discusses how credit unions can appeal when disputes with examiners, or other supervisory issues, arise.
- List of Credit Union Examination Rights - was developed with assistance from the league attorneys who were on the working group. A commentary on each right is provided.
- Quick Summary of Credit Union Examination Rights - is a separate listing of the examination rights, just for easy reference.
