Improvements and Changes Coming to aSmarterChoice.org

In the latest update from CUNAs consumer awareness website, new EVP of Strategic Communications & Engagement Paul Gentile explains that a major focus of the trade association's 2013 plans will be for the site to better spread consumer awareness and engage the media.  He also points out that the site is continuing to grow and evolve, with a nearly 60% increase in visits in 2012 over 2011 and searches for credit unions up around 18% from its first year of existence.  AVCU's "Find a Vermont CU" page on our newly redesigned website incorporates every Vermont credit union's aSmarterChoice.org data record, which lists branch locations as well as contact and field of membership information.

Other items of importance that Gentile mentioned in his message about aSmarterChoice.org included:
  • The site is going through some technical changes, including being optimized to increase its appearance in Web searches;
  • CUNA is revising content and looking at changing some aspects of the home page layout to give more flexibility and improve navigation; and
  • They're focused on bringing more local story angles to the site, so any good examples of credit unions demonstrating the CU difference in their local communities should be sent to AVCU with a request to be forwarded to aSmarterChoice.org administrators.
