At 3 pm today (7/23), CUNA chief economist Bill Hampel testifies as one of 5 witnesses before the Senate Subcommittee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. The hearing, entitled Creating a Housing Finance System Built to Last: Ensuring Access for Community Institutions, is about the future of the secondary mortgage market for financial institutions and the future of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Hampel will testify about the need for credit unions to continue to have a viable secondary mortgage market.
