At 3 pm today (7/23), CUNA chief economist Bill Hampel testifies as one of 5 witnesses before the Senate Subcommittee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. The hearing, entitled Creating a Housing Finance System Built to Last: Ensuring Access for Community Institutions, is about the future o
f the secondary mortgage market for financial institutions and the future of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Hampel will testify about the need for credit unions to continue to have a viable secondary mortgage market.
