NCUA Hosting Free CDFI Certification Webinar for CUs Posted by AVCU on 10:27 AM

Low-income credit unions interested in becoming certified as Community Development Financial Institutions can get valuable information from an upcoming Webinar, “CDFI Certification–Special Credit Union Version,” hosted by the National Credit Union Administration. The free webinar is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern.

NCUA and the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund are jointly engaged in an initiative to double the number of certified credit unions by the end of this year. The Webinar will highlight the automation of existing data sources to streamline the application process.

Vanessa Lowe, economic development specialist with NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union initiatives, will be joined by three staff members from NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives:

• Pamela Williams, partnership and outreach analyst; Diane Rector, economic development specialist supervisor and training manager
• Malia Peel, economic development specialist supervisor and project manager
• Michelle Dickens, senior program analyst with the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. 

Participants will also hear from two credit unions about their experiences going through the certification process.
