Co-op Economic Council Experts to Gather

Earlier this week the first ever planned council for economists from different cooperative organizations was announced by the National Cooperative Business Association.

The benefits of cooperative approaches to business and the economy are compelling, but difficult to explain due to scant data that features the impact of cooperatives. Such a gap in quantifying the cooperative advantage is what the newly launched Council of Cooperative Economists is poised to bridge.

The new Council is tasked with collecting and generating  data and analysis that measures the economic impact of cooperatives and demonstrates why co-ops are the preferred business model. Research by the Council will be used to influence policymakers, thought leaders and other stakeholders, and the general public.

The Council of Cooperative Economists is comprised of best-in-class cooperative economists exploring ideas and publishing cutting-edge research, as evidenced by its 14 members:
