Frank Values CU Members Over $$$ in Campaigns

on 11:22 AM

An 8/25 article on U.S. Representative Barney Frank in the Boston Globe may have been about financial regulatory overhaul, but the most important point for credit unions was what he says in the very last line of the article . . .
"In the area that we work in, it's not campaign contributions that drive it -
it's votes. The most important influences are the credit unions, the
realtors, the community banks - because there are many of them in everybody's
district."
The beginning of the article was equally interesting, for different reasons, as it referenced Frank's recent YouTube popularity in a town-hall meeting video where he likened a constituent to household furniture and asked what planet she might be from. Granted, the constituent charged Frank with supporting a Nazi healthcare plan.

Everything between beginning and end of the article focused on how Frank relishes his position at the helm of House Financial Services and his views on financial services regulatory overhaul. See the article in entirety here.
