The Huffington Post recently launched a campaign on their web site urging consumers to make a New Year’s resolution to move their money out of big banks into community banks. Oddly, credit unions were not recommended in addition to community banks. The Huffington Post, and Arianna Huffington herself, have written favorably about credit unions in the past. And indeed many of the comments that have been posted since the campaign was launched are from consumers touting credit unions.
Today the Huffington Post features a blog post from CUNA President Dan Mica on the move your money issue. His post appears on the site’s main home page, and as of early this morning had already drawn more than 80 comments, mostly favorable about credit unions. Also, the "updates" page on Huffington Post's "Move Your Money" site now includes this:
