Vermont's reported unemployment level decreased again in October to dramatically better the national average.  unemployment rate.This is the second consecutive month of unemployment rate reductions for Vermont. At this rate, it will still be another 12 months before Vermont reaches pre-recessionary employment levels. The Vermont 5.6% average, is composed of 17 area rates ranging from 3.5% in Hartford and Waitsfield/Warren to 7% in Newport.
