The second new federal credit union charter so far this year happened earlier this month when NCUA granted a charter and Share Insurance Fund coverage to Maine Harvest Federal Credit Union. The credit union will serve approximately 13,000 members and employees of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and the Maine Farmland Trust. It is headquartered in Unity, Maine, and is expected to be fully operational this fall.
In May of this year, NCUA also chartered Otoe-Missouria Credit Union in Red Rock, Oklahoma. It serves roughly 4,200 members and employees of the Otoe-Missouria tribe in addition to 17 businesses that are owned by the tribe. The credit union is designated as a low-income credit union.
